Agroécologie pour la sécurité alimentaire et la nutrition

Les "Amis de l’Agroécologie", qui comptent aujourd’hui les Représentations permanentes de neuf pays (Brésil, Côte d’Ivoire, Chine, France Hongrie,Japon, Suisse, Sénégal et Vénézuela) ont organisé le 1er juin 2016 à Rome, un événement sur l’Agroécologie pour la sécurité alimentaire et la nutrition.

Les délégués au Conseil et les Représentations permanentes sont venus nombreux assister à cet événement en marge de la 154ème session du Conseil de la FAO.

Following the International Symposium on Agroecology for Food Security and Nutrition held in Rome in 2014, and the three regional seminars organized by FAO in 2015, the Permanent Representations of Brazil, China, Ivory Coast, France, Hungary, Japan, Senegal, Switzerland, and Venezuela, - jointly collaborating as “Friends of Agroecology”-, invite Permanent Representations to an update on agroecology for food security and nutrition. Two FAO Members share national perspectives, scientists present different features of agroecological systems, FAO representatives summarize recent and forthcoming activities, practitioners share practical experiences, and participants are invited to engage in an open discussion.

This event provides an opportunity to :

  • Share the outcomes of the three regional seminars on agroecology for food security and nutrition organized by FAO in Africa, Asia and the Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean throughout 2015.
  • Provide updates on upcoming regional seminars and related activities.
  • Exchange national and regional experiences related to agroecological practices and their potential for sustainable food and agricultural systems ;
  • Enable understanding of agroecology through practical experiences.
